Ok. Normally I don’t flame service providers because a) I like to stay positive, and b) we’re a service provider and sometimes we make mistakes and have outages, too. In this case, however, I feel obligated to the community of Comcast subscribers to point out something that Comcast *really* needs to fix if they want to provide support commensurate with what is otherwise a great service.

Purchasing things online can be risky. I have had good and bad experiences so I like to give credit where credit is due.
In an age where doing business online is becoming more and more common most have had their share of good experiences and bad. Normally I only take the time to cover the bad. Once in a blue moon I have an experience with a business that merits singing praise. Seldom ever do I see anyone bend over backwards to make a customer happy. Earlstees.com impressed me on so many fronts I felt compelled to share my story. After all an online company going above and beyond the call of duty is something of a rarity anymore.

My story starts with a simple item, a Handbanana T-shirt. I understand that not all people will understand who or what a "handbanana" is so I'll just say if you don't know you should give Aqua teen hunger force a try. It's a cartoon that I think is hilarious but some might find rather distasteful. When I saw the handbanana T-shirt, for me it was a must have.

Quite often we are asked to build websites with photo galleries for our clients. They want the ability for people to see their club or restaurant when there is a party going on, and to see what kinds of people generally show up. Photo Galleries are a fun way to showcase a club or restaurant in a casual and candid way. People who view the websites gallery are generally wanting to know what they should expect when they show up - what kinds of people come to the club and what they should wear. Is this an upscale club where I will be dancing all night or a place I can go to hang out at the bar and relax?

The biggest problem that comes up are the initial images that are sent to us to post onto the gallery from the client. These photos of parties and crowds are generally shot over the last few years and have collected on a main computer somewhere or on multiple CDs they have been keeping. The problem is that these images come in all different sizes and in all different formats and they are mixed-up horizontal and vertical images. Mixing up the horizontal and vertical images makes resizing using Photoshop Actions pretty much a pain.

When InnoShare started up we were a small web development company of 2 people offering content management systems to schools, providing them with the ability to update their websites. Finding that schools were very hard to get into - because of local government red tape, we focused our attention more toward night clubs and restaurants (and really any work we could find). One of our first jobs was with a restaurant called Twisted Taco, a startup Tex-Mex restaurant located at 66 12St SW Downtown. In the past six years, both of our companies have really flourished. We have received great recognition from the Twisted Taco website, and have helped Twisted Taco with anything they needed for their website through the years.

Now, InnoShare is a Full Service Web Company with 8 employees in 3 states and nearly 100 customers ranging from Non-Profit Organizations to Fortune 500 companies. Twisted Taco has done even better, their website combined with their e-mail newsletter has led them to the beginning steps of franchising. With the new franchising, Twisted Taco wanted to really show off what they have become over the past six years. The first step to make that happen was to rebuild their website - thankfully they came knocking on our door.

Just another reason to hate tables.
In doing some work for Kendall Riggins & Associates Northwest Arkansas Real Estate recently, I was disappointed to find that the site was built using tables. For me, the biggest issue was the fact that it is just a jumbled mess to look at. I decided that it would not be a major effort to keep the same design using divs and css, and it would certainly make things easier on me. The benefits of doing this were many including validation, ease of editing and last but not least file size. File size is always in the back of my mind when building or editing any web page but I never really considered why it is important for SEO.

Recently, we have started collaborating with another Atlanta technology startup called AccesStream, which produces Open Source, Identity and Access Management software. We're excited about this product as it should help us save a lot of time (a.k.a. money) in common tasks such as setting up new users, creating new hosting accounts, etc. Though the product won't be ready for us to use until close to the end of the year, we'll be among the first folks to get information about the product, so we're pretty stoked.

R2-D2 was originally a multi-use Android. His many uses throughout the movies have been Fighter Pilot Navigator, Mechanic, 3-D Projector and even covert ops (watch the movie, you'll see). Everyone likes R2-D2 for different reasons, I just liked his personality amazing what they could do with just beeps and squeaks to give an inanimate object a personality right? Well, this little guy could be yours for the low cost of $3000!!!

Its April again and that means its time for the Annual InnoShare NHRA Drag Race Trip! Since our Atlanta Web Company has been expanding we literally had twice as many people going this year, so the more the merrier. Last year we had a great time in Downtown Asheville, NC, but this year we wanted to do something a little different. We called the Drag Strip and found out that we could CAMP out at the track. Think about it, waking up at 9am to the sound of Top Fuel drag cars tearing up the strip and engine tests sounded too good to pass up. We plunked down the $250 to reserve our 20' x 60' camp site, threw our tents and grills into the truck and headed to the track.

As soon as we made it to the track, they turned us away...

I recently purchased two of these drives and installing one in my media center PC was the biggest pain I have ever endured from any hard drive manufacturer. So it began around 6:00 p.m. last night, I stuck the samsung in the case and booted up. I checked the bios and the drive detected fine. I fired up windows went to my computer, no drive. This didn't hurt my feelings too bad as the drive didn't come with a disk so off off to the samsung website I went. I downloaded the utility, burned to disk and did a restart. Once the utility fired up I selected the "low level format" option as I did not see a quick format.

Today was a very interesting day for InnoShare, we were invited to the Dresden Elementary School Career Day where my wife teaches. I was a little nervous at first, Isaac and I had to tell 6 different classes what we do on a day to day basis and why we love our job. But not only that, but we had to do it for a full 30 minutes for each class. I was nervous, what in the world do you tell kids about web design? We do so many things that I have honestly never done the same thing twice in the 6+ years I have been in this industry. Now, these are 3rd, 4th and 5th graders and mostly what I do on a normal basis is work with clients, design sites and program. I don't even want to begin explaining the logistics of programming to a 3rd grader. I can literally see their eyes closing even thinking about it.
